  • Professor biography

    Prof. Juhan Nam is an associate professor at the Graduate School of Culture and Technology and an affiliate professor at the Graduate School of AI. He is conducting research on computer-based music analysis and generation. Before joining KAIST, he worked as an audio researcher at Qualcomm (2012-2014) and as a synthesizer developer at Young Chang (Kurzweil) (2001-2006). Currently, he serves as the president of the Korean Society for Music Perception and Cognition, an associate editor of the Audio Engineering Society Journal, and a program co-chair of the International Society of Music Information Retrieval (2021). He has published many papers in the fields of music information retrieval and audio signal signal, and was awarded the International Joint Research Award (2021) from KAIST in recognition of his joint research with foreign universities and research institutes. With AI-based piano performance research, he participated in various exhibitions and performances such as a special exhibition at the Daejeon Museum of Art (2019), the opening performance of the KAIST 50th anniversary ceremony (2021), and Sumi Jo's KAIST concert (2022).
