Title: Medical 3D Standardization: Present and Future

Abstract:

Medical images from Hospital are consisting of a two-dimensional(2D) data set, and providing human body information as a slice. The human body has 3D morphology, if we can simulate this we would know more body information. Also it will be a help of surgery planning and treatment using the clinical environment these data. We can have objective data through the process of generating a three-dimensional medical data from two-dimensional image. Although doctors do a lot of efforts and costs for this process, the resulted 3D data are different  in between each institute. So, this protocol provides standard, easy and accurate 3D data for the clinical fields and even for industrial markets.

Also, Medical 3D data acquisition devices are increasingly available and able to provide accurate spatial information on the human body. Even though nowadays hardware capabilities and rendering algorithms have improved to the point that volumetric 3D visualizations can be rapidly obtained from acquired data, 3D reconstructions are not routinely used in most hospitals. This is both because physicians are traditionally trained to gather information from 2D image slices, and because 3D volumetric images displayed on traditional devices are often of questionable value because of ambiguities in their interpretations.

If it can be standardization a file with 3D medical data, considering each data character from a different place, it will have steady quality visualization without any inconvenience. Therefore, this WG suggest a standard data including 3D processing techniques.
