[#Lab_Tube] A mobile augmented reality platform

VR and AR technologies provide diversified experience in virtual spaces. On this week’s #Lab_Tube, we introduce the Ubiquitous Virtual Reality Laboratory at the Graduate School of Culture Technology, KAIST, which is led by professor Woo Woon-tack. The research team has suggested a new vision by applying VR and AR technologies to the smart tourism sector. And they have developed “K-Culture Time Machine,” which is a mobile AR platform that enables users to experience cultural heritages and tourist spots in virtual spaces without additional wearable devices.
When following the markers on the monitor or showing the images of a certain space to the mobile screen, the related cultural contents appear on the application. The research team will strive hard to develop AR platforms which can increase the convenience of users. We introduce the Ubiquitous Virtual Reality Laboratory of KAIST, which has led the future growth of VR and AR technologies that can enhance the abilities of humans.
