Kyung Myun Lee holds bachelor's degrees in both music theory and psychology, master’s degree in musicology from Seoul National University in Korea, and a PhD in music cognition from Northwestern University in Illinois, USA. Upon completion of her Doctorate degree, she was a BK professor at the Graduate School of Convergence Science and Technology at SNU. Currently, she is an associate professor at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Culture Technology at KAIST. Until recently, she has served as the President of Asia-Pacific Society for Cognitive Sciences of Music (2017-2018) and Vice-President (2014-2016), and the President of Korean Society for Music Perception and Cognition (2015-2019). She serves on the editorial board for Journal of Audiology & Otology, and program committee for International Musicological Society of East Asia. She runs the Music and Brain Research Lab at KAIST, which investigates on human’s musicality, creativity, and musical pleasure through behavioral and electrophysiological methods. The lab aims to discover new musical creativity that will complement best in the post-AI generation through interdisciplinary studies in musicology, brain science, and cognitive science. Ultimately, the lab seeks to develop futuristic musical technologies to cultivate happiness for humanity.
